Tanker drivers in the Ashanti Region have suspended their industrial action following assurances over parking shortages and faulty discharge meters, easing fears of fuel supply disruptions across the region.
The strike, launched on Monday, 17 August 2026, was called off after an emergency meeting between the executive members of the drivers’ association and management at BOST Energies.
During the meeting, BOST officials committed to resolving the drivers’ grievances within 30 days.
Normal operations resumed on Tuesday, 18 August 2026, at the BOST Kaase depot in Kumasi, with drivers loading and offloading petroleum products.
Drivers had laid down their tools to demand immediate technical fixes for newly installed discharge meters.
According to the association, glitches in the devices caused inaccurate volume readings, leading to wrongful arrests and financial penalties for drivers.
The association also requested dedicated, off-road parking facilities to eliminate hazardous roadside parking around the depot.
Dominic Brenya, Regional Vice Chairman of the drivers’ association, confirmed the suspension but noted that members remain on high alert.
”We will not hesitate to reactivate the strike if our grievances are not resolved as promised during the meeting,” Mr Brenya said.
