The Chief of Mowire, Nana Gyamfi Kumanin Sarpong, has highly commended the Afigya Kwabre South District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon Patricia Pearl Ankrah, for launching a week-long public engagement and accountability tour across the district.

The mid-term initiative, which marks 18 months of the current government’s tenure, aims to promote transparency, enhance citizen engagement, and update residents on major ongoing and completed development projects.
A Model for Local Governance
Speaking during the tour’s stop in Mowire, Nana Sarpong noted that if all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) adopted similar grassroots engagements, citizens would be better informed about the development projects happening in their respective districts.

The Chief emphasised that even if a community like Mowire had not yet received its full share of the development cake, the town-hall style meeting provided a vital platform for residents to directly inform the DCE of their pressing needs.
Describing the initiative as both timely and necessary, Nana Sarpong urged other MMDCEs across the country to emulate Hon Ankrah’s example.

Pressing Community Needs and Road Infrastructure
During the session, the Chief appealed to the DCE for urgent assistance in fixing Mowire’s dusty road network, highlighting its negative impact on local economic activities and the health implications for residents.
In response, Hon Patricia Pearl Ankrah assured the Chief and the community that the road is already part of a broader network project awarded to contractors.
She explained that work had been temporarily delayed due to legal issues, but promised that the administration is actively resolving the bottlenecks to ensure the project resumes shortly.

District-Wide Tour and Infrastructure Milestones
The week-long tour commenced on Monday, 22nd June 2026, with visits to Adwumakase and Aduman, followed by interactive sessions in Wawase/Sweduro and Kyekyekyerase on Tuesday, 23rd June 2026.

The DCE then took the engagement to Ankaase, Mpobi, and Sasa on Wednesday, 24th June 2026, and engaged Ejuratia and Mowire on Thursday, 25th June 2026.
Throughout these stops, the DCE highlighted key infrastructure developments designed to significantly impact lives in the district.
Core among these projects are the construction of kindergarten, primary, and junior high school classroom blocks, markets, mechanised boreholes for clean water, new health centers, and police posts aimed at strengthening local security.
The heavily attended interactive sessions brought together a broad spectrum of local stakeholders, including traditional chiefs, Assembly Members, Unit Committee Members, youth groups, and community elders.
