The Accra High Court has revoked the bail of Kwame Baffoe, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and ordered his remand into police custody.
The decision follows Baffoe’s failure to comply with a court directive to surrender his passport as part of his bail conditions in an ongoing criminal case.
Baffoe, popularly known as “Abronye DC,” was absent from court when the ruling was delivered.
The prominent politician is currently facing a charge of publishing false news in a case brought against him by the State.
The High Court had previously granted Baffoe bail last month after an initial period in remand following his arraignment.
Under the terms of that agreement, he was explicitly directed to deposit his passport with the court registry.
However, his failure to comply prompted the court to revoke the relief and order his immediate re-arrest and detention.
While the bail dispute was handled by the High Court, the substantive criminal case regarding the false publication charge remains pending and will continue before the Circuit Court.
