The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Afigya Kwabre South in the Ashanti region, Hon Patricia Pearl Ankrah, has launched a week-long community engagement tour across the district to update residents on major ongoing and completed development projects.

The mid-term initiative, designed to promote local transparency and citizen engagement, marks a shift toward direct public accountability by the government, which has been in office for 18 months.

The DCE highlighted 16 major infrastructure projects, both completed and ongoing, in the district, intended to have a significant impact on the lives of people.
Among the key infrastructure developments highlighted by the DCE were kindergarten, primary, and junior high school classroom blocks, alongside new health centres and police posts aimed at strengthening local security.

Ms Ankrah also enumerated about 10 fully completed mechanised boreholes, with an additional 30 currently under construction to expand clean water access.
The town hall-style tour commenced Monday, 22nd June 2026, with visits to Adwumakase and Aduman, followed by interactive sessions in Wawase/Sweduro and Kyekyekyerase on Tuesday, 23rd June 2026.

The interactive engagement brought together traditional chiefs, Assembly Members, Unit Committee Members, youth groups, community elders, and other community members.
According to the DCE, the administration felt it was critical to account to the public mid-term rather than waiting for an election cycle.
Expressing satisfaction with the high turnout and enthusiastic reception, Ms Ankrah noted that the tour demonstrates the government’s commitment to targeted, localised development.
Residents widely commended the initiative, noting that the district has rarely experienced this level of direct accountability.
Community members expressed gratitude for their inclusion in the governance process, stating that the tour made them feel valued as key stakeholders in the district’s future.
