Jerry James Suka, popularly known as “Papa Jay,” has officially made a strong pitch for the Ashanti Regional Deputy Communication Officer position, pointing to his proven record of media engagements, public demonstrations, and investigative petitions as key assets to strengthen the party’s regional communication machinery ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to the media in Kumasi, the Oforikrom Constituency Communications Officer emphasised that effective political communication requires a proactive approach beyond standard television and radio panel discussions.
”There is one distinguishing factor that dichotomises a good communicator or communication officer from the rest, and it is very simple: the ability to grant press conferences and organise demonstrations,” Suka stated.
Highlighting his track record in regional mobilisation, Suka noted that he has organised approximately 13 press conferences and eight major public demonstrations across the Ashanti Region. Among these was the prominent “Asanteman Dumsor” protest held on 24 April 2024.
Suka stressed that his commitment to defending the party has remained steadfast, citing his role in countering opposition propaganda and taking concrete legal steps to address political allegations.
In one notable instance, he submitted a formal petition to the National Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) requesting a thorough investigation into galamsey allegations levelled against a District Chief Executive and a member of parliament.
Turning his focus to the party’s long-term strategy, Suka announced the rollout of the “Ashanti Accountability Tour,” an initiative designed to move away from aggressive political rhetoric toward a data-driven, evidence-based strategy.
”Right up to 2028, it is no longer about the aggressive style or the ‘Takashi’ style,” he explained, stating, “You remain calm and be very assertive in your communication. Ghanaians want to know our blueprint and our footprints before they vote for us in 2028.”
Under the Accountability Tour, Suka and his team are gathering comprehensive audio-visual evidence of ongoing and completed developmental projects across all municipalities and districts in the Ashanti Region.
The objective is to equip party communicators, constituency executives, and digital media influencers with verifiable proof during public debates.
”So when you go to the TV or radio station, and there is a discussion about projects, if the opposition tries to refute your claims, you simply hand the video evidence to the producer,” Suka said, adding, “These are the strategies I am bringing to ensure our communicators across all platforms are fully armed.”
Suka urged party executives and delegates across the region to support his candidacy, promising an empowered, professional, and results-oriented regional communication division.
