The National Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has issued a major public notice blacklisting 70 local and international institutions, declaring them unrecognised by the regulatory body.
The official directive, released by GTEC’s Corporate Affairs Directorate, cautions the general public that these institutions fail to meet requisite standards due to various quality assurance concerns.
Consequently, the Commission has strongly advised individuals to exercise strict due diligence regarding any academic certificates issued by the named entities.
Global and Local Institutions Cited
The comprehensive registry of unaccredited entities spans multiple countries, featuring institutions from the United States, India, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and several African nations.
Among the blacklisted entities are United States-based organisations such as Atlantic International University, Osiri University, Breyer State Theology University, and Brainae University.
Local Ghanaian institutions facing sanctions include Debest College of Science, Arts and Business, Faith University Seminary (FUS), Doxa Open University, and Quest International University.
Other notable international entries include Universidad Azteca in Mexico, the Indian School of Management and Studies in India, Monarch Business School in Switzerland, and the Selinus University of Sciences and Literature in Italy.
Protecting Academic Integrity
As the apex regulatory body driving a world-class tertiary education system for national development, GTEC’s latest sweep aims to protect students and employers from invalid qualifications.
The Commission has reiterated that credentials obtained from these 70 institutions carry no legal weight or academic recognition within Ghana.
Students currently enrolled in or considering enrollment in these programs are urged to verify institutional accreditation status directly with GTEC to avoid compromising their professional futures.
