The leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has strongly denied social media reports alleging a shooting incident on its premises, instead accusing former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, of forcefully ramming her vehicle into the church’s entrance gates at Kwabenya.
According to an official press release issued by the church leadership on 21st June 2026, the incident occurred following a lawful church event.
The church stated that Adwoa Safo arrived at the venue and drove her vehicle into two metallic gates, causing “substantial damage to both structures.”
Church officials highlighted that the collision posed a severe risk to life and property, as numerous worshippers and guests were seated close to the entrance at the time.
“Had the gates completely collapsed or had the vehicle proceeded beyond the entrance, the safety of attendees could have been gravely endangered,” the statement noted.
Security personnel on duty intervened to control the situation and protect those gathered.
The mission also categorically rejected viral claims that Adwoa Safo was shot by her brother during the confrontation.
Characterising the rumours as an attempt to create a “false impression of having sustained a gunshot injury,” the church leadership maintained that, based on all available information, no shooting occurred.
The Kristo Asafo Mission has called upon law enforcement and relevant authorities to conduct a thorough, impartial investigation into the matter.
They have urged the general public to refrain from drawing conclusions based on unverified social media reports while official agencies establish the facts.
