The Mpasatia Police, in collaboration with the Atwima Mponua District Environmental Health Department, have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of an unidentified woman believed to be in her 20s at Anyinamso No.1 in the Ashanti region.
The decomposing body of the deceased was discovered hanging from a thick tree with a rope tied around her neck in a bush over the weekend.
A black polythene bag was found at the scene.
Due to the advanced state of decomposition, authorities quickly processed the scene and conveyed the body for immediate burial.
The Assembly Member for the area, Mr Sampson Cobby told Kumasi FM’s Elisha Adarkwah that the attire on the deceased suggested she might have been an apprentice.
Commenting on the incident, Mr Cobby raised suspicions of foul play, suggesting the victim might have been murdered elsewhere before being hanged on the tree to stage a suicide, judging by the condition of the scene.
The police have since commenced an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
