The Ashanti Regional Treasurer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Marvin Norman Philip Frazer, has officially submitted his nomination forms to seek re-election, touting a strong record of financial management and promising to scale up fundraising targets for future party operations.
Submitting his forms on the first day of open submissions, Mr Frazer declared his intention to maintain his position and build upon what he described as a transformative tenure for the regional party’s treasury.
Speaking after filing his candidacy, Mr Frazer highlighted his performance over the past four years, claiming his stewardship turned the regional treasury into a model of efficiency that outperformed even the governing party at the time in resource mobilisation.
”When it comes to treasury, the Ashanti Region is the shining star,” Mr Frazer stated, adding, “We can boldly say that during my time as the regional treasurer, the party had enough resources—even more than the ruling government.”
A key highlight of his statement was the financial milestone achieved during the previous election cycle, where he revealed that his administration raised at least GHS 12 million to support party operations while operating from the opposition.
Looking ahead, Mr Frazer pledged to multiply those financial efforts fourfold to adequately resource party grassroots and executive operations in upcoming elections.
”If we were able to raise GHS 12 million even in opposition, God willing, we will do four times that amount coming into the next elections,” he added, highlighting, “This is the time we are going to take care of the party people. We will raise enough money to take care of you.”
Addressing his network of supporters, Mr Frazer attributed his fundraising success to building strong bridges outside traditional political circles.
He noted that his campaign team includes members of the business community who align with his vision due to his reputation for transparency and financial integrity.
