The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, has passed away following a brief illness on Sunday evening, 20 September 2026.
The tragic news was officially confirmed in a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, who described the late DCE’s untimely demise as a monumental loss to his family, colleagues, the region, and the government at large.
”It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Hon. Abubakar Sedik, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West District, after a brief illness,” Dr Amoakohene stated, adding, “His untimely passing is a great loss to his family, the people of Ahafo Ano South West, colleagues, the Ashanti Region, and the entire Government.”
Hon. Sedik’s passing occurred shortly after he participated in a key Local Government Ministry stakeholder engagement in Kumasi on Sunday.
The session was convened by the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Hon. Mahama Ayariga.
Extending sympathy to the bereaved family and constituents, the Regional Minister added, “We extend our deepest condolences to his bereaved family, loved ones, colleagues, and constituents. May God grant them strength and comfort during this difficult period. May the soul of Hon. Abubakar Sedik rest in perfect peace.”
