Chairman hopeful of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Manso Adubia constituency of the Ashanti Region, Kwadwo Addo, has pledged to capture the parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2028 general elections if elected.
Mr Addo made the declaration while presenting 200 bags of cement and two tons of iron rods to the constituency leadership to support the construction of a permanent NDC party office complex.
The party currently operates out of a rented apartment in the constituency.
Highlighting his political vision, Mr Addo, who is making his second bid for the chairmanship, stated that he has formulated electoral strategies to flip the constituency.
”My main reason for contesting for the Manso Adubia constituency chairmanship is to claim the parliamentary seat for the party,” Mr Addo stated, adding, “That is my vision. When I calculate the numbers, I conclude that it is possible to win the seat, though more work needs to be done. I have strategies to achieve this, though I cannot disclose them publicly.”
Addressing the constituency’s recent voting trends, Mr Addo acknowledged the widening deficit between the NPP and NDC.
The margin between the two parties expanded from approximately 1,800 votes in previous cycles to roughly 5,000 votes in the 2024 general elections.
Despite the setback, he expressed confidence in the party’s ability to turn the tide through collective effort.
“Unforeseen circumstances may have contributed to the increased margin in 2024, but with solid teamwork, adding this seat to our parliamentary tally is entirely achievable,” he said.
The donation was received by incumbent constituency chairman, Frank Antwi Adjei, who expressed gratitude for Mr Addo’s contribution toward completing the infrastructure project.
Bernard Ntiamoah, the NDC constituency communications officer, also commended the gesture, noting that the building supplies would significantly advance the construction work.
Mr Ntiamoah urged party members to foster unity as the NDC prepares for its constituency executive elections next month.
