The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Abubakar Sedik, has debunked social media claims that an existing classroom block in Mankranso will be demolished to make way for a new 24-hour market project.
In an official statement addressing allegations made by Baabi Dehyee Kwaku, Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency, Mr Sedik described the claims as false, misleading, and politically motivated propaganda.
He emphasised that no school building will be pulled down for the development.
”Let me state categorically that no one is going to demolish the said school building to construct the 24-hour market,” Sedik said, adding, “The market project is being undertaken and has nothing to do with the demolition of that school facility.”
Providing context on the infrastructure in question, the DCE noted that the classroom block referenced in the video was constructed in 2022 but has remained unutilised ever since.
He characterised the facility’s initial construction as a misplaced priority at the time, given other pressing developmental needs in the district.
According to the assembly, the planned 24-hour market is a major economic initiative designed to boost trade, generate local opportunities, and advance broader socio-economic growth across Mankranso and the Ahafo Ano South West District.
Urging the public to ignore partisan misinformation, Mr Sedik reiterated his commitment to prioritising community development over political disputes to improve living standards across the constituency.
