A group of traders at the Bantama Market in the Kumasi Metropolis has dismissed threats by a vendor at the Kejetia Market who claimed she would end her life if President John Dramani Mahama contested for office again.
Speaking to journalists in Kumasi, representatives of the Bantama traders—led by Madam Veronica Opoku and Nana Ahenkan—rejected the vendor’s stance and declared their support for the President.
The statement was in response to a viral social media video in which the Kejetia vendor threatened to ingest poison should President Mahama enter another presidential race.
Addressing the media, the Bantama traders commended the President Mahama’s administration’s investment in commercial infrastructure.
They cited the redevelopment of the Kejetia Market complex and regional satellite markets as crucial to local business growth.
The group appealed to the President Mahama to consider remaining in office to construct additional market facilities across the country.
”We are pleading with President Mahama to contest again to enable his administration to construct more modern market centres conducive for trading,” the group stated.
