The Ejisu Municipal Assembly has issued a stern directive warning transport operators against any unapproved increases in transport fares across the municipality, cautioning that violators will face swift legal sanctions.
The official directive, issued in a notice dated 14 August 2026 and signed by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Jerryne Asante, explicitly states that no upward adjustment in commercial transport fares is permitted at this time.
“The Ejisu Municipal Assembly wishes to inform the leadership and members of the Drivers Union within the Municipality that there should be no increase in transport fares at this time,” Mrs Asante stated in the official release.
Assembly authorities cautioned that any driver or operator found flouting the directive within the municipality’s jurisdiction will be subjected to appropriate legal penalties.
“Any Transport operator operating within the jurisdiction of the Ejisu Municipal Assembly who is found engaging in unauthorised fare increase will be subject to appropriate sanctions in accordance with the law,” the notice warned.
“Union Leaders are further encouraged to communicate this directive to all their members and ensure strict compliance to avoid sanctions from authorities,” the statement added.
