The Ghana Police Service has arrested six private security guards following a shooting incident on Sunday that left the former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Hon Sarah Adwoa Safo, injured in Kwabenya.

Following the arrests, a targeted search conducted by law enforcement officials led to the retrieval of an arsenal of weapons, including five pump-action guns, a Taurus pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, an additional magazine loaded with five rounds, and various communication devices.

According to a press release issued by the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit on 21st June 2026, the incident unfolded after police personnel from the National Operations Directorate and the Intelligence Directorate responded to a distress call from a residence in Kwabenya.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a ceremony was being held at the residence of Mr Tamakloe Safo Jehoshaphat, alias Akofena.
The altercation began when Hon Adwoa Safo arrived at the location and requested entry to the premises, but was denied access.
Police investigators established that armed security personnel stationed at the residence subsequently discharged their firearms during the confrontation.
Hon Adwoa Safo sustained injuries during the shooting, and her vehicle was later found with multiple gunshot marks.
The six suspects, along with the recovered weapons and exhibits, have been transferred to Police Headquarters to assist with ongoing investigations.
The statement, signed by Supt Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra region, noted that law enforcement operations are still underway to locate and arrest all other individuals connected to the incident.
