The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Andrews Augustus Nana Kwasi, has called on party members to prioritise peace and unity ahead of the party’s upcoming internal elections.
Speaking during Eid al-Adha prayers hosted at the regional party office, he prayed for peaceful internal elections, urging members to maintain absolute decorum before, during, and after the internal polls.
During the gathering, Nana Kwasi offered prayers for President John Dramani Mahama, asking for divine strength to help him lead the country toward continuous economic growth and sustainable development.
Explaining the decision to host the Islamic prayers at the party office, the Regional Zongo Caucus Coordinator, Osman Nasiru Hamza, emphasised that internal party democracy can only thrive in an atmosphere of tranquillity.
He cautioned members against divisiveness as the internal leadership contests draw closer.
The appeal for political harmony was also echoed by Hajia Azu Najat, the NDC France Chapter Women’s Organiser.
She extended the call beyond internal party structures, urging members of both the governing NDC and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to put Ghana first and actively seek national unity.
