Prominent New Patriotic Party (NPP) figure, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as “COKA,” has officially sought the traditional blessings of the Kwamanmanhene, Nana Debrah Boateng Bediako II, ahead of his upcoming bid for the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairmanship.
The former Afigya Kwabre South Constituency Chairman visited the palace during the celebration of the sacred Awukudae festival to formally announce his candidacy and request the prayers and support of the traditional council.
COKA was accompanied to the palace by Mr Victor Osei Poku, an aspirant for the Nsuta Kwamang Beposo NPP Constituency Chairmanship, along with several constituency executives.
Royal Counsel and Development Appeals
Welcoming the delegation, Nana Debrah Boateng Bediako II, advised COKA to maintain focus on his political ambitions and cautioned him to make only realistic, achievable promises to party delegates and supporters.
The traditional ruler further urged the regional chairmanship hopeful to remain loyal to his grassroots followers if victorious, and seized the opportunity to appeal for political support toward local development initiatives.
Nana noted that the Kwamang community is currently facing a significant infrastructure deficit.
Commitment to Traditional Institutions
Following the closed-door engagement, Mr Victor Osei Poku—who is playing a pivotal role in COKA’s regional campaign—reaffirmed the aspirant’s deep respect for chieftaincy and religious institutions.
Mr Poku explained that integrating traditional authorities into the political journey was essential for securing proper guidance.
Describing the engagement as highly fruitful, he expressed confidence that COKA would strictly heed the counsel and development appeals made by the Kwamanmanhene and the elders of the traditional area.
