Incumbent Women’s Organiser for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asokwa Constituency, Regina Awini, has set a target of securing 95 per cent of total votes cast after officially being cleared by the party’s vetting committee to run for a second term.
Addressing supporters shortly after the vetting exercise, Ms Awini expressed high confidence in her standing among delegates, projecting an unprecedented landslide victory in the upcoming internal polls.
“I’m telling all the branch women’s organisers that they should vote massively,” Ms Awini said, adding, “It will be historic, unprecedented, a vote that no women’s organiser contesters have ever gotten. I know for sure that it will be 95 per cent in this election.”
Reflecting on her internal party trajectory, Ms Awini highlighted her dedicated service within the constituency executive structure over the past eight years.
She previously served a four-year term as constituency Communication Officer following her election in 2018, before securing her current post as Constituency Women’s Organiser in 2022.
Ms Awini emphasised that her decision to seek re-election stems from a drive to consolidate past achievements and expand party mobilisation efforts ahead of the upcoming national general elections.
“There’s a lot I’ve done since I took the Constituency Women’s Organiser position,” she noted, stating, “We did a lot, and I’m here to continue. That’s why I’m contesting again. I want to continue the good work and help so that the NDC party will retain power in 2028.”
Describing the vetting process as smooth and satisfactory, the incumbent commended the vetting committee for its diligence.
“For the first time, I can say this one is historic,” Ms Awini stated, highlighting, “Rare questions were asked, and everything was on point. So I can say it was on the line.”
