The Chief of Appiadu in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region, Odeefo Yaw Barima II, has commended President John Mahama following the reactivation and re-awarding of several major infrastructure projects that had previously stalled across the municipality.
The revived developments include the Municipal Administrative Block at Appiadu, a judicial bungalow, and the Agenda 111 hospital project.
The sites have been officially handed back to contractors by the Oforikrom Municipal Chief Executive, Anwel Sadat Ahmed.
Under the revised timelines, the contractor assigned to the Municipal Administrative Block has been given eight months to complete construction, while variable deadlines have been set for the remaining sites.
In an interview with Kumasi FM’s Elisha Adarkwah, Odeefo Barima confirmed that overgrown weeds surrounding the Administrative Block site have already been cleared.
He added that work on the Agenda 111 facility, situated along the Appiadu-Kokoben boundary, is actively underway, with the installation of medical equipment currently in progress.
While expressing appreciation for the renewed momentum, the traditional leader urged both the central government and the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly to maintain consistent funding and oversight to prevent future delays.
Additionally, Odeefo Barima appealed to the government to prioritise hiring local youth upon completion, emphasising that matching available skills with community labour would help tackle unemployment within Appiadu.
