The Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu in the Ashanti region, Jerryne Asante, has denied the allegations levelled against her and urged Assembly members to unite in efforts to develop the municipality.
The Assembly members accused her of financial irregularities, administrative overreach, and repeatedly disregarding directives.
They also called on President John Mahama to revoke her appointment after a planned vote of no confidence was aborted.
Mrs Asante stated in an interview with Kumasi FM’s Elisha Adarkwah that the allegations are politically motivated, aimed at hindering her development projects within the municipality.
She emphasised that the NDC administration is responsible for the area’s development and accused members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of attempting to obstruct her efforts.
She further cited attempts to revoke her appointment, referencing the rejection of the late Afrifa Yamoah Ponkor, a former MCE under the NDC administration, when he was nominated, as a precedent they seek to replicate.
Mrs Asante denied claims that she ordered the seizure of the key to the Assembly Hall, the venue for the aborted vote.
She called for investigations into the allegations, asserting she would be cleared of any wrongdoing.
Mrs Asante, therefore, appealed to Assembly members to collaborate with her for the district’s progress, warning that division could hamper development efforts.
