Water supply is set to normalise across the Kumasi Metropolitan Area and its surrounding communities after Ghana Water Limited (GWL) completed critical repair works on its main transmission pipeline at the Barekese Water Treatment Plant (WTP) early Wednesday morning.
The maintenance operations were officially concluded at 4:00 a.m, significantly ahead of the originally projected completion timeline.
The swift resolution allows for an immediate resumption of water production and system re-pressurisation, bringing vital relief to thousands of commercial and residential consumers across the Ashanti region who were affected by the temporary shutdown.
According to an official statement released by the Ashanti Regional management of GWL, the accelerated completion was driven by the round-the-clock efforts of its engineering units.
”This achievement is a testament to the dedication, professionalism, and unwavering commitment of the technical and operational teams who worked tirelessly to ensure the timely completion of the repair works and the restoration of service to customers,” GWL stated.
Management expressed gratitude to residents and regional stakeholders for their patience and cooperation throughout the rigorous repair exercise.
GWL further reaffirmed its commitment to establishing long-term, sustainable water infrastructure, noting that it will continue implementing proactive maintenance interventions to optimise service reliability throughout the Ashanti region.
