The wife of Archbishop Desmond Tutu is Nomalizo Leah Shenxane an activist, teacher and a nurse. She is 88 years and had been married for 66 years with 4 children and 9 grandchildren.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s Wife was the founder of the Desmond Tutu Peace Center in 1988 and is also co-founded the South African Domestic Workers Association.
Nomalizo Leah Shenxane also served as an assistant to the University of Botswana, Lesotho, and Swaziland from 1970 to 1972.
She was also the director of the Domestic Workers and Employers Project of the South African Institute of Race Relations from 1976 to 1984.
She was awarded an honorary doctorate together with the husband Desmond Tutu by the National Louis University.

Before his death he was blessed with threee beautiful daughters and a son. The names of the three daughters are Mpho Andrea, 58, Naomi Nontombi, 60, and Theresa Thandeka, mid 60’s. Their son is Trevor Thamsanqa, 65 years.
