Former NPP General Secretary and CEO of Forestry Commission Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has died after suffering a short illness in Accra. News reaching newshubgh.com suggests the death of staunch New Patriotic Party (NPP) member, Sir John.

What Happened To Him

Sources have told that Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie was admitted to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital last Thursday, 25th June, and he was moved to the ICU after he started experiencing breathing difficulties.

Who was Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie

Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie (popularly known as Sir John) was a Ghanaian lawyer and politician. He has held several political positions including serving as general secretary of the New Patriotic Party. He was serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission of Ghana before his demise.

Early life and education

Kojo Afriyie was conceived in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He went to Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School in Bekwai from where he got his GCE Ordinary level endorsement. He continued to acquire his GCE Advanced level authentication from Konongo Odumase Secondary School in Konongo. He was confessed to consider political theory at the University of Ghana. He at that point enlisted at the Ghana School of Law where he graduated with Bachelor of Law. After this he was conceded as a specialist and direction for the Supreme Court of Ghana.

Legal career 

Afriyie went into private law practice in 1981. During the John Agyekum Kufour organization, he was delegated head of legitimate administrations at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation. He was later made to go about as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the partnership.

CEO of Forestry Commission 

In March 2017, President Nana Akuffo-Addo selected Afriyie as CEO of the Forestry Commission. He supplanted Samuel Afari Dartey, whose term as the CEO had finished.
