Basketmouth, a famous Nigerian comedian, has praised Davido, a Nigerian star artist, for single-handedly bringing Nigeria to the World Cup by appearing on the Qatar 2022 theme song.
Davido’s inclusion would be a welcome relief for Nigerians after their Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup after a 1-1 draw with arch-rivals Ghana on Tuesday.
On Friday, Davido announced his participation in the World Cup theme song, Hayya Hayya (Better Together).
The announcement stirred debate online, with Davido’s admirers claiming he is Nigeria’s best musician. “Me versus the music industry!” Davido tweeted in response to the remarks. “I adore it.”
Basketmouth chimed in on Sunday, praising Davido for his achievement and stating that he should be applauded.
“Aside from his countless accomplishments at such a young age, Davido has now single-handedly carried Nigeria to the World Cup,” he added.
“Regardless of the situation, that alone should be applauded.” Nobody will perish if we all work together.”
