The Upper East Region has recorded one death and four (4) additional cases of the Coronavirus(COVID-19) bringing the total number of cases to eight (8) as of April 16.

According to the Regional Health Directorate, three of the additional cases were contacts of the first case the region recorded.

A statement signed by the Regional Health Director of Health Services Dr. Winfred Ofosu said one of the cases was detected through routine surveillance in the Bawku Municipality.

“Unfortunately, the case in Bawku passed on before the laboratory results were received from KCCR, however, being a suspected case burial was appropriately supervised,” the statement said.
